Bailey Institute (BI), forms partnerships in underserved communities and uses technology and education to improve lives.
The Bailey Institute’s vision is to eradicate illiteracy.
Bailey Institute’s Partnership with William V. S. Tubman University, Maryland County, Liberia, will rebuild the computer lab and provide remedial programs for 390 students over three years, starting September 2009.
Partnerships provide specific benefits that include:
- Plans are strategic and reflect partners’ priorities.
- Reduced costs through less waste and rework
- Maximized efficiency and effectiveness
- Local partners reflect knowledge of culture and in communications and project priorities
- Local partners are competent in identifying and reaching targeted populations
- Local counterparts are competent in interpreting responses to programs, questions and training
- Efficient transfer of expertise and knowledge e.g. in Mathematics and Technology
- Knowledge of best communications channels for public information and community outreach
- Training of Trainers (TOT) fosters rapid transfer of expertise and skills to local community.
Bailey Institute partners and their locations are as follows:
- LIBERIA - Tubman University, Harper, Maryland County; African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU), Monrovia-Montserrado County and Po River-Bong County; West African Examination Council (WAEC), Monrovia;
- KENYA – University of Nairobi;
- USA – Washington County Family Center, Hagerstown, Maryland.
